Regarding bonus, good news for UP state employees

Great news for all civil servants of Uttar Pradesh! The state government is now planning to give a new record Dearness Allowance (DA) and bonus just before Diwali festival. This decision will help more than 15 lakh employees and teachers in the state.

DA Increase Before Diwali

What people know is that arrangements are being made to implement a DA increase of 50 percent to 54 percent across the employees of UP state. The proposed increase will taken effect from July, therefore employees will also receive back pay for previous months.

However, around 8 lakh employees will be benefited through a bonus that will be worked out on basic pay and DA. Last year the bonus which was paid to the employees was worth roughly ₹7,000, which was is expected in the same range this year as well.

Bonus and Who Benefits

Non-gazetted officers are set to receive the bonus while the increase in DA is set to affect all state employees including teachers. This forms part of the government’s measures to help balance the financial demands it imposes on its employees and provide them with an extra boost during the festive season.

Meeting on Teachers’ Issues

During a recent interaction chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Maurya the issues of teachers in Basic, Secondary, and Higher Education departments were debated. Ad hoc teachers and Shiksha Mitras should foresee an improvement in their emoluments and honoraria. On these issues, it was decided that the final decision will be reached within a month.

Support for Ad Hoc Teachers

Another subject discussed during the meeting that affected the society was the problem of ad hoc teachers in non- government aided secondary schools, Having allowed only 1,200 teachers in this category, the government is yet to decide on the amount it will pay the teachers soon.

Pension and Service Issues

The other basic concern that was highlighted was the failure to provide pension for certain teachers, particularly those affected by a March 16 order. The government has pledged to address this within a month.

Another issue that was discussed during the meeting was the issue regarding the treatment of teachers who are under investigations with regard being given that only those with particular complaints leveled against them would be interrogated. Also there are attempts to come with the finality of rules that touch upon teacher service security, suspension and other processes.
